On this sheet
- Maya reads 79 pages each day for 4 days. How many pages does Maya read in all? — answer: 316
- A box holds 86 pens. How many pens are in 3 boxes? — answer: 258
- Ivy reads 57 pages each day for 6 days. How many pages does Ivy read in all? — answer: 342
How to teach it
- Multiply the top number by the ones digit of the bottom number.
- Multiply the top number by the tens digit. Write a zero in the ones place first, because you are multiplying by tens.
- Add the partial products.
- Estimate first: 38 × 21 is about 40 × 20 = 800, so an answer of 7,980 needs another look.
