What Axis keeps about a student

Axis never asks for a birth date, address, school ID or photo of a student. Please don't photograph faces.

What it's used for

To find where a student starts, make worksheets at the right level, check completed pages, and show progress to the adults in the workspace. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

Reading uploaded pages with AI

Photos of completed pages are sent to Anthropic, an AI provider, to read the handwritten answers. Before sending, Axis removes everything in the photo file that isn't the picture (location, device, time). Axis only suggests marks; nothing reaches a student's record until an adult approves it. A workspace can stop AI reading at any time in Settings.

Who handles the data for Axis

All of it is stored and processed in the United States, including AI reading.

Who can see it

Only adults invited to the workspace, within their role. An educator in a school can be limited to their own students. Reports stay inside the workspace: Axis makes no public links to them.

How long it's kept, and deleting it

Who may agree

A parent or guardian for their own students, or an adult authorized by the school for a school's students.
