How to teach it

  1. Each place is ten times the place to its right: tenths are ten times hundredths, ones are ten times tenths.
  2. To compare decimals, line up the decimal points and compare place by place from the left.
  3. To round, look at the digit one place to the right: 5 or more rounds up.
  4. To add or subtract decimals, line up the decimal points, then work as with whole numbers.
